Four things to understand before you select a collection.
What is a porcelain slab?
Large-format, kiln-fired panels — typically 47" wide and up. They mimic marble, travertine, or concrete with minimal grout lines, making any room feel larger and more open. No porosity, zero maintenance, no sealing — ever.
Surface vs. through-body
Through-body: colour and pattern run the full depth — cut edges stay clean and consistent. Glazed: the design is surface-only, enabling richer colour and translucency, but the substrate shows on cuts.
Certified installer required
Panels can exceed 100 lbs and require vacuum lifters, precision wet saws, and large-format levelling systems. Installation is more specialised than standard tile — labour costs reflect that. Always hire a certified slab installer.
Cleaner by design
Porcelain's near-zero grout joints leave nowhere for dirt or bacteria to hide. The surface is completely impervious — a soft cloth and warm water is all you need. No harsh chemicals, no grout sealing, no upkeep routine.

- •Walls & Backsplashes: 6 mm is your friend — lighter, easier to handle, and no less beautiful than thicker formats
- •Floors & Countertops: Step up to 9–12 mm for the structural support you'll need underfoot or under load
- •Sample First: Always ask for a cut sample — colours read differently under showroom lighting vs. your actual home
- •Choose the Right Installer: Not every tile installer is set up for slab work — ask specifically before you hire
- •Outdoor Use: Porcelain is entirely UV resistant — just confirm the frost resistance rating for your climate before installing outside

Collections worth exploring
- •Substrate needs to be rigid and level to a tighter deflection tolerance than standard tile — this is where most slab failures start.
- •Floor-rated and wall-only slabs are clearly marked on the product sheet. Never install wall-rated slabs as flooring.
- •Mitered edges require a diamond wet saw and a confident hand. Quote accordingly — don't learn on the job.
- •Order 10–15% over your net area. Off-cuts from large panels are rarely reusable and batch reorders won't always match.
- •Order all panels from a single production batch — vein and colour variation between runs can be significant.

Find a BranchNo. Porcelain is non-porous by nature — it does not absorb liquids, bacteria, or staining agents. Unlike natural marble or travertine, porcelain slabs require no sealing before or after installation. A soft cloth and warm water is genuinely all you need for routine cleaning.
Yes, for walls only. Slabs are great for wall cladding, especially where adding weight is a concern, or for a custom outdoor table top. Porcelain is entirely UV resistant, so colour won't fade, but not every collection is rated for freeze-thaw cycles. Confirm the individual product sheet before specifying exterior applications.

Through-body has colour running the full tile depth — chips or cut edges won't reveal a white core. Glazed applies the pattern to the surface only, enabling richer colour depth and translucency, but the substrate shows on cut edges.
Countertop applications typically require 12 mm porcelain slab or a laminated double-layer of 6 mm slabs for adequate structural support. Most countertop work also requires mitered edges—confirm with your installer before ordering.

Surface preparation tolerances are tighter than standard tile, and some panels need 2–3 people to safely lift and position. Labour costs reflect the skill and equipment involved — not just the time.
In many cases, yes — and it's one of the practical advantages of slab format. Installing over an existing surface reduces demolition waste, saves time, and lowers overall project cost compared to natural stone. The existing surface must be flat, firmly bonded, and within deflection tolerance. Your installer can assess suitability on-site.
Add 10–15% to your total area. Slab panels are large and cuts produce significant unusable off-cuts. Order your full quantity at once — a reorder months later may not match your original batch exactly.
