Community Involvement
.
More Than a Cause. Part of Who We Are.
Honouring a Legacy. Supporting the Future.
At Ames, our commitment to cancer research is deeply personal. In 2015, we lost our CEO, John Ames, to leukemia. John was more than a leader. He was a colleague, mentor, and a driving force behind the culture that continues to shape Ames today. His loss touched every corner of our company and strengthened our resolve to support the fight against cancer. While many of us have personal connections to this disease, John's story united us around a shared purpose that continues to guide our efforts today.
A Commitment That Lives On
What began as a desire to honour John's memory has become part of our culture. Across our branches and communities, Ames employees come together through fundraising initiatives, local events, volunteer efforts, and participation in programs such as the BC Cancer Foundation Tour de Cure. Every ride, every donation, and every event reflects our commitment to advancing research and supporting those affected by cancer.
Supporting Research That Changes Lives
Funds raised through Ames initiatives help support the BC Cancer Foundation and the clinicians, scientists, and researchers working to improve outcomes for patients across British Columbia, Canada, and beyond. We participate in memory of those we have lost, in support of those currently facing cancer, and in hope for the generations still to come.
