Materials That Shape Your Space
Since 1912, Ames has held a simple belief that materials shaping a space matter just as much as the space itself.
Ames brings together tile and stone collections designed for residential and commercial spaces across Western Canada. For more than a century, we have evolved alongside the people who shape spaces, combining global sourcing, technical expertise, and a collaborative design perspective to support spaces with depth, character, and lasting impact. Through carefully selected materials, Ames continues to move beyond specification and into expression.
What We Believe
At Ames, we believe exceptional spaces begin with meaningful collaboration, thoughtful materials, and a shared commitment to design.
Our mission is to be an exceptional workplace, inspiring our team to collaborate as OneAmes to supply beautiful tiled surfaces that our customers consider best in class.
A Legacy Shaped Through Generations
Ames began in 1912 as Ames Bros. on Alexander Street in the heart of Vancouver. Founded by brothers Cyril and David Ames, the partnership lasted less than two weeks, but the company they began would continue through generations. As the tile and stone industry changed through global sourcing, shifting design perspectives, and new ways of building, Ames expanded across Western Canada while refining its approach to materials, service, and design collaboration.
Four generations later, Ames continues to be guided by the same principles that shaped it from the beginning: respect, curiosity, accountability, tenacity, social responsibility, and passion.
While the industry continues to evolve, the commitment to thoughtful partnership, exceptional materials, and the people who shape spaces remains constant.
Expertise Built Through Experience
Ames team members are certified through the Terrazzo Tile & Marble Association of Canada (TTMAC), with training in ceramic tile, natural stone, installation practices, and material performance.
This ongoing commitment to education and technical expertise allows us to thoughtfully support the designers, builders, and spaces we work alongside.
